Why are we holding this event?
Locals 175 & 633 are the one of the leading local union donors to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC), the official charity of UFCW Canada.
Through an initiative by the Holiday Inn and Suites Windsor and UFCW Locals 175 & 633 member Michael Collins we are proud to donate all the proceeds from the 2009 catch for a Cure Fishing Derby to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).
The LLSC is committed to finding cures for leukemia and related diseases and improving the lives of those affected by these diseases. This is an ambitious task and we need your help!
The LLSC invests $32 million annually to support more than 200 researchers, provide financial assistance to patients, sponsor scientific conferences around the country, produce educational materials and maintain more than 50 support groups nationwide. The LLSC does not receive any federal funding and therefore relies on the generosity of people like you and me for continued support of these important programs.
Please join us on a truly enjoyable day in hopes of finally catching a cure for these horrible forms of blood cancers. Through this event we will uphold the Foundation's Mission: To conquer leukemia, lymphoma and myelodysplastic syndromes and to enrich the quality of life of those touched by these diseases.
